Until recently Napoleon Bonaparte had seemed like France’s knight in shining armor. Coming in and saving France from a corrupt monarch who controlled the whole government. As well as revolutionary turmoil that had severely affected France for almost a full decade. But after being exiled to St. Helena you being to see that Napoleon was not in any way a hero like everyone perceived him to be but instead a tyrannical emperor who had taken control over everything. Suppressing his citizen’s rights by censoring and disposing of anyone who went against or objected his absolute power. Only keeping the ideas of nationalism and liberalism alive. Making it seem that loyalty to him was the equivalent to loyalty with france caused the nation to be loyal to one man which inadvertently weakened France as a whole. He got too caught up in all his power and forgot that he had limitations and continued to keep fighting wars to try and expand his territory. Napoleon may have started out as a hero for france but over time he slowly became a tyrant letting the amount of power and control he had over france get into his head. Jovae' Castle
